I'm not entirely sure where this came from. It's one of the more recent recurring thoughts in my head really. But for a while I didn't want to write it down because it seems quite unlike something I would write. Eventually, two things occurred to me: That I want it out of my head, and that if I want to write it, it must be something I would write.
This wants to be a song, but I'm not much help there. The most definite thing I can tell you is that I've been hearing with a male singer. The overall style is probably rock, although I don't know enough to narrow it down any. Each verse starts out soft, and then becomes harsher towards the end, with special emphasis on the 'dirty' lines.
Will you walk up to the temple,
and will you worship there?
Will you walk up to the temple,
ascend it's holy stairs?
Will you walk up to the temple,
your feet upon it's steps?
Your dirty feet upon the temple,
the shiny marble steps.
Will you walk up to the temple,
your feet upon it's steps?
Your dirty feet,
your dirty feet,
your dirty feet.
Will you walk into the temple,
and will you worship there?
Will you walk into the temple?
You know that they will stare.
Will you walk into the temple,
your eyes upon it's walls?
Your dirty eyes upon the temple,
and it's stained glass walls.
Will you walk into the temple,
your eyes upon it's walls?
Your dirty eyes,
your dirty eyes,
your dirty eyes.
Will you listen to the sermon,
will you go and worship there?
You may listen to the sermon,
but will you ever hear?
Will you listen to the sermon,
fix your mind upon it's words?
Your dirty mind upon the sermon,
the preacher's holy words.
Will you listen to the sermon,
fix your mind upon it's words?
Your dirty mind,
your dirty mind,
your dirty mind.
Will you pray inside the temple,
will you go and worship there?
Will you pray inside the temple,
will you even dare?
Will you pray inside the temple,
words echo in it's halls.
Say your dirty words inside the temple,
inside it's hallowed halls.
Will you pray inside the temple,
words echo in it's halls.
Your dirty words,
your dirty words,
your dirty words.
Will you go up to the altar,
and will you worship there?
Will you pray upon the altar,
find relief from all you cares?
Will you pray upon the altar,
lay your hands upon it's stones?
Your dirty hands upon the altar,
sacred stones upon the altar.
Will you pray upon the altar,
lay your hands upon it's stones?
Your dirty hands,
your dirty hands,
your dirty hands.
Will you go unto the temple,
and will you worship there?
Your dirty feet.
Your dirty eyes.
Your dirty mind.
Your dirty words.
Your dirty hands,
your dirty hands,
your dirty hands.
